Dems Send Cease and Desist Order to GOP Over Fraudulent Calls
Here's a copy of the letter: http://www.raisingkaine.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5861
--Robo calls purporting to give information on a Democratic candidate mention the Democrat in the first sentence. However, the phone call is from the GOP and the robo-call keeps calling back until the whole message is heard.
--One voter got a call claiming to be from the Registrar. He was told he's not legally registered (he is). Next he was told that if he tried to vote he'd be arrested (read it here). http://www.webbforsenate.com/media/phone_message.wav
--Out of state calls (from Montana) were placed to residents in Virginia telling folks their polling place had changed when it hasn't.
--The GOP is calling people in the middle fo the night and claiming to be from the Webb campaign. One voter got two such calls Monday morning. --Here's what happened to a friend of mine. In Blacksburg, the GOP has left recorded messages suggesting people don't have to vote. The very next day, the person called gets a mailing from the RNC falsely claiming that "liberals have a message for you: Skip this election." They go on to say: "Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the tax and spend Democrats don't want Republicans to vote." (I am typing from hard copy of the flyer as a write this. This is no rumor.) The two-staged tactic first tries to tell voters they don't have to vote and then the next day, blames it on Dems.
--Voting machine problems:
Voter Machine Problems.
a. On many ballots in heavily Democratic neighborhoods, Jim's name is cut off. The ballots say: "James H. (Jim)" with no Webb.
b. New reports that ballots in Essex County have Jim's name split on 2 pages. The "James H (Jim)" on one page, "Webb" on the next.
c. Reports of voting machines in Isle of White that do not provide a clear image of the ballot, making voting a challenge.
--Also to suppress turnout, the RSCC has "Swift-Boated" Webb. The ad puts the word "deviant" in large letters on the television screen. The ad tries to give the impression that Webb is anti-woman, a pervert and a deviant. This disgraceful tactic has been deplored even by many conservatives, many of whom loved Webb's fictional accounts of the Viet Nam war. Web included things he saw and heard about in SE Asia at the time, and afterward as he traveled to a number of countries there, trying to make sense of what he had experienced. Included in this was one cultural practice in Cambodia, which Webb obsserved when he, like the soldier in his novel, was merely walking down a road. Read George Will's column on the subject of Allen's abusrd claims in yesterday's Roanoke Times. It was amazing! John McCain has praised Jim Webb's writing, including the passage provating the Neanderethals' worst fake "outrage."
--In NOVA vote suppression manuals have been sent to GOP poll workers advising them to be aggressive in denying us the right to vote.
